Key West FL
(
There are many fine restaurants in Key West that are more upscale than what is listed here. There are also
many simple places to eat that are also quite good. This list only represents the simple eating
places that I insist on visiting at least once while I am staying here)

Hogfish Bar and Grille- (Stock Island)
This place is not easy to find, but really worth looking for. It is a simple outdoor bar/eatery with picnic tables to sit and eat their fantastic fish. The meals are basic fry, grill, and blacken, but the quality is excellent and the prices are very reasonable. This has become my new place for lunch when we stay here.

Chico's Cantina - (Stock Island)
You want the best Mexican food in Key West? This is the place you want to go. It is located on A1A 1/4 mile before you hit Key West. The place has fantastic burritos, fajitas, enchiladas, and so on. The chips for the salsa are made on the premises and get served to you warm and crispy. Don't miss this one.

Blue Heaven - Petronia Street
Forget the fact that this place has become more tourist driven these days. This is a great restaurant! Where else can you eat outside while roosters run around the tables, and cats sleep wherever they want to? Only in Key West. We come to Blue Heaven for the breakfast, which is always good. They run great specials using local flavors which are always worth the trip, but the real reason to come is to sit outdoors and hang with the roosters!

HALF SHELL RAW BAR (end of Margaret Street) Key West
Best fresh fish on the Island. They buy the fish right there at the dock for the night specials. Try the fish blackened, some stone crab claws, or some oysters and clams on the half shell, or the Conch fritters, they're all great. Nice Margaritas on the Rocks. Sit along the water, you can watch large fish swim by below you while you eat great food

METEOR RESTAURANT - Southard Street (1 block off Duval)
You got to love the food in this place. Ribs, chicken, pulled pork, with choices of great sides. The barbecue sauce is tangy, hot, or mustard based. They even have a sink in the middle of the restaurant to wash off your tangy mitts, and you will need it!

EL SIBONEY - Catherine Street
Local Cuban food at its best. You feel as if you were eating in their home. The pork is spiced with cumin and covered with onions which just melt in your mouth. The pork tenderloin is my favorite with the yellow rice and black beans. You have to try the Cafe' con Leche (Cuban espresso with steamed milk), a perfect end to a great meal.

TURTLE KRAALS-( Margaret Street on the dock) Key West
This place has been around a long time. The food has an island taste with a Cuban twist. The seafood is incredible, order the local catch like grouper, snapper, or dolphin, you won't be disappointed. The view looks out on the marina facing almost West so you can see a great sunset sky from here.
